Types of Aid

There are two types of federal loans that may be available to students in the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program. The Federal Direct Subsidized Loan and the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan may be offered to students who have completed a FAFSA® and have remaining undergraduate federal loan eligibility. It is recommended that students who have borrowed federal loans in the past visit and review their loan history to best understand their remaining eligibility for undergraduate federal loans.

In addition to federal loans, students may opt to borrow a Washington University Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Loan. This loan is offered to students who may need some additional loan assistance in order to meet educational expenses. The WashU Loan offers a competitive interest rate, is subsidized while the student is enrolled in the program, and can be deferred upon successful full-time enrollment in graduate or professional school program. The WashU Loan will be provided as part of the overall financial assistance offer for students in the program with a completed FAFSA®. There is not a separate application required.
